Queenscliff Maritime Museum
The museum focuses on the hazards to shipping of “The Rip” at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. There is hyrographic model showing the infamous “Rip Deep”. Lifeboats were stationed at Queenscliff near “The Rip” for 120 years from 1856. On display is the beautifully restored RNLI Watson Class lifeboat on call for 50 years until the service ceased in 1976. Other features include navigation aids and safety gear, maritime paintings and the history of Port Phillip Sea Pilots. At Weeroona Parade, Queenscliff (see map). Open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
