Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club
The Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club is in the all weather, deep water working port of Newcastle. The complex includes a marina, shipyard and maintenance facilities, commercial centre and licensed club. the floating marina has 200 marina berths of vaarying sizes each with power and water as well as a fuel wharf dispensing diesel and unleaded petrol black and grey pump-out facilities. The shipyard is equipted with a 40 tonne travel lift, a concrete hard-stand area and a paint shop. An on-site marine engineering service is available.
Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club administration office is in the Commercial Centre which also houses visitor bathrooms and laundrette. Also located in this facility are a seafood restaurant, sail maker & chandlery, a yacht brokerage, fishing tackle shop, real estate agent, accommodation and tourism and beauty/massage therapy salon.
Recently opened, the licensed club with its spacious courtyard and large retracting windows which bring the harbour atmosphere inside is open weekdays between 10 am and 10 pm and from Friday to Sunday between 10 am and midnight. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Top floor of the building is home to an advertising company.
The facilities have expanded rapidly since operations began in December 2001. Strong associations have been established with other east coast Yacht Clubs and Game Fishing Clubs. NCYC is a member of AYF and of the Newcastle Tourism Association. It has also established links with Sail World and other great sailing publications.
The NCYC is part of the Marina Precinct on the harbour front with easy access from Hannell Street, Wickham. Hannell Street links up with the Newcastle, Sydney, Queensland, and Pacific Highways. The Railway Station is a short walk, while a Helicopter pad is a mere 200m away. Newcastle City has a variety of Clubs, excellent restaurants and a shopping centre, all within 1.5 km of the Marina Precinct. The attractions of the Hunter Valley Wine Country are also only a day trip away.

STOP PRESS - FREE WEATHER SEMINAR
In September this year the Bureau is upgrading its weather forecasting services for NSW and some marine services will change.
The Bureau of Meteorology is conducting free marine seminars for anyone with a professional or recreational interest in the weather.
The free seminar in Newcastle will be at the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club 95 Hannell St., Wickham 2285 Date: Thursday 29 July 2010 Time: 7pm to 9pm
Topics will include:
How the new system will change marine forecasts and warnings. How wind, waves and weather can affect your boating activities. How to use the web radar images effectively.
